Mental Health: Developing A Sound Mind

A Sound Mind

Secular mental health experts define mental health as being in touch with reality and being relatively free of anxiety. Worldly standards are “reasonable”, but anyone who is caught in a “spiritual” battle for their mind will fail with worldly standards as we’ve witnessed repeatedly with the increasing number of reported suicides.

Mentally healthy people

Mentally healthy people are those who have a true knowledge of God, know who they are as children of God, and have a biblical worldview that includes the reality of the “Spiritual” world. If you are one who knows that God loves you, that you are forgiven therefore removing all guilt and shame, that Christ has gone before you to prepare a place for you in eternity, that you have no need to fear death and you have the peace of God guarding your heart and mind, then you are a MENTALLY HEALTHY person. If you don’t believe this to be true then go and visit a psychiatric ward and you’ll find some of the most religious people you’ve ever met, but their concept of God and themselves is massively distorted.

The Bible presents the unseen spiritual world as more real than the temporal world we see and exist in. Paul the apostle says, “We should fix or focus our eyes NOT on what is seen, but we should fix or focus our eyes on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary or passing away, but what is unseen is eternal.”

Why are you so doggedly determined to try and hold to the things that are only temporary, constantly depreciating in value, and fading away? Our life should not be defined by “the abundance of things in which we possess. Attempting to hold onto illusions will cause us to experience mental anguish, depression, and stress.

What is real is truth, and God is the TRUTH, and the only revealer of TRUTH. Truth is that which is genuine, real, trustworthy, and produces and sustains life. Anything or anyone who is opposed to God and HIS revelation of TRUTH then represents an illusion, or a lie. Then real life can only emanate from living in harmony with God and His will for our lives, which is TRUTH and PURPOSE.

As Christians, we are required to live by TRUTH and practice TRUTH….

“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of YOUR MINDS; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”

Truth or reality is the only source of righteousness (right standing), holiness (wholeness), peace, and a SOUND MIND.
